Business Retention—Several Training Programs held in the Spring

Northwest Kentucky Forward recently sponsored several free training programs to assist the existing businesses in the area.

A 2-hour training program was held in April on Preventing Violence in the Workplace.  More than 50 representatives from businesses from throughout the region attended the session at the UK Extension Office.

In March and April, NWKF sponsored two two-hour programs on Business Continuity.  Each of these sessions helped companies with their disaster preparedness.  More than 50 representatives participated in this sessions as well.

As with all of NWKF Business Retention programs, theses sessions were free.

Education & Workforce Development—Rally a Success; Post-events stay strong

NWKF sponsored an incredibly successful Rally 4 Education Excellence in March which was attended by nearly 600 area citizens concerned about education.  The Rally was keynoted by Governor Beshear and Kati Haycock, president of the Education Trust in Washington, D.C. and featured numerous speakers and panels led by business, community and education leaders from throughout the Commonwealth.

The Rally was the kick-off for a larger, on-going effort aimed at rallying community support for outstanding education throughout our region.  Post-rally, Community Advocacy Teams were established in each county to direct and plan activities for that county.  Katie French, NWKF Coordinator for Regional Education Initiatives, supports and works with each CAT.

This grassroots initiative is incredibly exciting and more than 70 people have already gotten involved in just the Henderson County teams.  To learn more about the Rally and CAT in your area, go to www.rally4education.com.
