Jack Schultz Inspires at Annual Dinner

More than 140 people were inspired by economic development consultant and author, Jack Schultz, at the Northwest Kentucky Forward Annual Dinner on Tuesday, 9 September.  Schultz shared the keys to small-town success from his book Boomtown USA:  The 71/2 Keys to Big Success in Small Towns.  He commented on how far the region had come so quickly in forming Northwest Kentucky Forward and the region’s plan for success.  Additionally, he praised the decision to expand the focus to include workforce and education (more on this below).

Annual Report

The past fiscal year was a very successful one for Northwest Kentucky Forward.  In addition to welcoming Homecare Products, Timewell Tile, and C&C Roofing to the region, the Business Retention and Business Development initiatives also recorded successful years.  A copy of the Annual Report is posted on the website at http://www.northwestky.com

New Officers and Board Members

With the start of the new fiscal year in July, NWKF welcomed a new slate of officers and a couple of new board members, while saying farewell to two outgoing board members.

David Scott from McLean County has taken over as Chairman of the Board.  Other new officers are Garland Certain (Union County) as Vice Chairman, Mike Farris (Webster County) as Secretary, and Debbie Gray (Henderson County) as Treasurer.

Doug Bell (Ohio Valley Financial Group) and Marty Littrell (Big Rivers Electric Corp.) joined the board as at-large members while founding members Joel Hopper (Brenntag) and Tom Latta (Kentucky Economic Development Partnership Board) rotated off.

NWKF increases focus to include Education Enhancement

Northwest Kentucky Forward has had a three-prong approach to creating wealth and opportunity for the region—Business Attraction, Business Retention, and Business Development.  Recently, the board has decided to expand that vision and has created an Education Committee to focus on the invaluable role that all levels of education plays in the growth of our region.  To assist in the work of that committee, a part-time position focused on Regional Education Initiatives has been created.

Ellie Wright from Morganfield has been hired to serve in the position.  Katie is a recent graduate of Murray State University and has a passion for education.  Katie’s top priority in the coming months is in the planning of a Regional Education Summit to be held this spring.

Welcome Katie to your NWKF team - ellie@northwestky.com
