George R. Burgess, Jr. Speaks at the ‘Leaders/HR Round Table

Existing business leaders and human resource professionals, representing all four counties of Henderson, McLean, Union and Webster, listened to what George R. Burgess, Jr., Acting Commissioner for Existing Business with the Cabinet for Economic Development, had to say at the June 26th breakfast round table held at Wolf’s Banquet Center.

With nearly 50 business representatives in attendance, Mr. Burgess pointed out that most of the new jobs created are created from existing businesses, and stressed the importance of having good state incentive programs in place to assist with expansions.  He also provided organizational information on the Cabinet structure, stating the Cabinet for Economic Development is the smallest in state government.

IRB’s (Industrial Revenue Bonds) – May Work For You!

Industrial Revenue Bonds, issued by the state or local governments in Kentucky to help finance industrial buildings as defined by KRS 103.200, may be used to finance the total project costs, including engineering, site preparation, land, buildings, machinery and equipment and bond issuance costs.

The issuer of the bond holds the title to the improvements financed with IRB proceeds.  In this instance, the property owned by the issuer may be exempt from local property taxes during the duration of the bond issue.  This property may also be eligible to be taxed at a reduced state rate.

Contact us today to see if an IRB might help you compete for that next expansion.
