Regional ED meets with Regional Higher Education

July 31st, 2009

NWKF recently participated in a very interesting meeting involving our economic development counterparts from Owensboro and Evansville.  We met with the newly formed regional higher education consortium involving approximately 10 schools from Northwest Kentucky and Southwest Indiana.

This lunch meeting was a follow up to the Regional Economic Summit that was held in Evansville last November and which focused on themes related to growing this broader region.

One of the very real benefits to come out this meeting was a discussion of the needs/challenges economic development faces in our region and how higher ed could help.  One solution is to look at the consortium of colleges in the aggregate to provide a fuller picture of the opportunities, programs and graduates in the region.

I think you will be seeing and hearing more about the higher education consortium and partnerships with the regional economic development groups.
